Solution: This business would act as a middle man and create an app that will provide a tool for adults to post any job they need to be done. On the other side, people who are looking for easy jobs can scan through the website and find a job that best suits them.

I came up with this idea as I myself am a teen and have struggled to find a small job that could make me some cash. At the same time, my parents and other adults around me were complaining about some errands that they needed to do, so I realized that the problem was not that there were no jobs to do, but rather that there wasn’t a good platform to connect the employer and the employee.

There are several different statistics to support the freelance market. According to Statista, by 2027 the global freelance platform market is projected to reach 9.19 billion, and the compound annual growth rate is predicted to be 15.3% during 2021-2027. Last year’s annual earnings by US freelancers grew by $100 million, now totaling $1.3 trillion.

There are several different models such as this one, which have both some advantages and disadvantages:

  • Fiverr

    • Advantages - It is a cheap way to get simple tasks done, withaccess to top-rated sellers

    • Disadvantages - There is no guarantee that the person you hire will actually do the work; There have also been cases of people being scammed on Fiverr

  • Task Rabbit

    • Advantages - It lets you reach out to more customers looking for your service and helps contractors find customers quickly without having to do heavy promotions

    • Disadvantages -  A service fee is included in the hourly rate, plus you can expect an additional Trust & Support fee on the final invoice; Not Licensed Professionals

The features of this model are very similar to Uber, but instead of being exclusively for transportation, it incorporates other aspects such as gardening, cleaning, washing, fixing, etc. Similar features include ratings, safety checks, profiles, and more.

Some the website’s advantages would be, as chat system, to allow communication between employee and employer; a rating system (similar to Uber) to avoid as many scammers as possible; points/rewards for completing tasks (gamified) keeping the app engaging; background and security checks for the safety of both the employer and employee.

Something extremely important about this model is that the employee would not be charged any sort of fees, allowing them to gain all the money that the employer is willing to give them. Moreover, the employer would set the price and would have to pay an additional 5% fee on top of the offer.

Monetization: 5% service fee on employer
