Problem: Some of the most popular parts of the internet aggregate fascinating and interesting websites that are extremely obscure or difficult to find. But how does one discover these sites to begin with?
Solution: Two sites I love for discovering interesting and obscure websites or pieces of news are Hacker News (ycombinator.com) or Reddit: the front page of the internet. Of course, occasionally there are also Tweets which aggregate interesting content from all over the internet: this was a method that Greg Isenberg took in a January 17, 2021 Tweet about “underrated websites/apps.”
In the replies on this Tweetstorm, I stumbled upon quite a few fascinating websites:
All of these are interesting fringe internet articles, products, and websites that while hard to digest in the form of a Twitter thread are extremely interesting.
